البته بجز استاندارد IEC استانداردهای ديگری نيز در دنيا وجود دارد اما امروزه و بخصوص با تشکيل اروپای متحد، استاندارد IEC به عنوانيک استاندارد بين المللی مورد توجه و تائيد اکثر کشورهای دنيا قرار دارد.

از ديگر استانداردهای موجود می توان به استانداردهای (BS) (British Standard) در انگلستان، VDE در آلمان و يا NEMA در ايالات متحده نام برد.
